What Car Model Should I Go For?

For car novices, the different models, makes, classifications and the never ending list of add-ons and accessories to choose from when buying a vehicle can be overwhelming – particularly if your knowledge of cars is limited to an understanding that you can drive automatic (not manual) and that the car runs on petrol. But there are a number of other important options and decisions to make when purchasing or choosing a car. One of the most important decisions is what type of car you would like to drive. The model of a car refers to its body style. Here’s a rundown of the different body styles of cars available to help you determine which car model is suited to you.

Hatchback. A hatchback refers to a vehicle with a top-hinged tailgate that combines passenger and cargo space. The trunk is not separate, meaning that the back row of the passenger seat can be lowered for additional cargo space. Hatchbacks are popular smaller vehicles that provide comfortable passenger space. The Peugeot 207 and 208 are popular small car hatchbacks. Head to Sydney Peugeot dealers to test drive one today.

Sedan. Sedans are bigger in comparison to hatchbacks and comprise two rows of passenger seats with a separate trunk space. Sedans are recognised as the most popular and comfortable passenger vehicle. The Honda Civic is a classic sedan style car that can be found at a range of Sydney Honda dealers.

Station Wagon. A station wagon is similar to a sedan but different in that it incorporates a full sized cargo space. The station wagon essentially looks like an extended sedan, and is popular with those who require extra boot space. Surfers and tradesman are common station wagon drivers.

Coupé. Coupés are often referred to as hard topped sports cars. They are small, compact and usually have only two passenger doors. Coupes are a favourite for inner city, zippy driving!

SUV. Short for sports utility vehicle, SUVs are similar to station wagons but built on an axis similar to that of a light truck. They are larger and raised higher and usually built with four-wheel drive and on and off-road ability. In some countries, including Australia, SUVs are commonly referred to as ‘four-wheeled drives’ and many car brands are used to describe this body type such as Jeep or Landrover. SUVs are often more expensive than smaller cars. For a more affordable SUV, try looking for used Land Rovers.

Van/Mini-van. Vans are cars that are usually used for transporting goods or people. They are usually box shaped and large in length and width. A minivan refers to a smaller version of the van that is predominantly for personal use. Minivans are taller and roomier than sedans or hatchbacks and are sometimes referred to as multi-purpose vehicles.

Similar Looking Cars

When you get two cars that look exactly the same – how do you decide which one to go for?

A few years ago people had the dilemma of choosing between the very similar Vauxhall Tigra and the funky looking Ford Puma. Both cars were built on a similar platform. The Puma was built on the popular Fiesta platform whilst the Tigra was built on the Corsa platform. They offered drivers the option of driving a funky little convertible for a reasonable price.

Recently, the exact same thing has happened with the Peugeot 107 and the Citroen C1. These cars are almost identical bar the badge. They are the same size, available in very similar colours and are very similarly priced.

So, when this situation occurs how do you decide which car to go for, the following list will help you out with this.

1) Firstly, you need to consider the manufacturer. Obviously some have better reputations than others. But in the case of Peugeot and Citroen who have similar sorts of reputations you need to look at other factors a bit more closely.
2) You should the look a bit more closely at the car’s specification – what offers you more value for money. In some cases you may find that one car is better equipped with the latest technology, but the other may be available in a better choice of engines, this may suit your motoring needs more.
3) One point that shouldn’t really define your decision is the location of your nearest car dealer…you should look more carefully at the specs…but hey, if they’re that similar!
4) Another point which applies mainly to the Tigra and Puma is their social reputation. It probably hasn’t escaped your attention is that many people often perceive the Vauxhall Tigra as a ‘hairdresser’s car’, therefore most men will probably be put off choosing the funky Tigra over the Puma. Even though both cars are almost identical the Puma seems to be perceived as more of a mans car…for whatever reason.

So, when it comes to choosing between two almost identical cars you should take these points into consideration and then make your decision. Production of the Tigra has stopped this year and there are no immediate plans for a replacement, so you may have to stick to buying a used car – which means you need to pay more attention to the specs…to make sure you get the most from your money.

Peugeot Pepper Mills Spice Up The Kitchen

Peugeot is a name that has been around since the 1800’s and has always signified superior quality products and craftsmanship. Peugeot is know for many fine products ranging from cars, coffee mills, washing machines, pepper mills, to wine accessories and more. The evolution of Peugeot started with brothers Jean Pierre and Jean Frederic Peugeot converting an inherited mill into a steel foundry. Thus starting the production of fine steel products that would eventually become the grinding mechanisms in their pepper and salt mills, spice grinders, and coffee mills.

Many different types of spices have caused the development of different grinding mechanisms for each one. These different mechanisms make it possible to get the most out of spices, aromas, and flavors. Of course all of Peugeot’s grinding mechanisms are designed to withstand wear and corrosion. Groves on the grinding mechanism are individually cut into the metal and then case hardened, making them practically indestructible.

Pepper mechanisms have a 2-stage channel and grinding process, which cracks the peppercorn before grinding. The shape of the double row of helicoid teeth enables the fineness of the grind to be adjusted by turning the button on the top of the mill. By adjusting the button at the top you will go from ground pepper to powdered pepper.

Salt mechanisms are designed to grind coarse, dry sea salt. The stainless steel mechanisms are treated to prevent salt corrosion. Only Peugeot has manufactured mills in this manner and are recognized as the best in the world.

Mechanisms for wet sea salt have been specifically designed for Guerande salt. Despite the sea salts high degree of humidity, a spiral shaft prevents the salt form becoming compressed. The spiral shaft guides the wet salt crystals towards the mechanism for grinding. The grinding mechanism is made of composite materials, which are not prone to saline corrosion.

Spice mechanisms are made of an exclusive material that outperforms and is less fragile then ceramic. The specific shape of this grinding mechanism helps avoid friction and is perfect for dried herbs and spices.

The nutmeg mechanism has double stainless steel blades that shave and cut the nutmeg. This process releases the nutmegs fresh aroma and enables the whole nutmeg to be grated very finely.

The chili mechanism has an exclusive patented pre-chopping system, which enables dry chili to be ground. This chili mechanism is exclusive to Peugeot only.

Coffee mechanisms have an adjustable grind for fine to coarse grounds. The old-style coffee grinder is fitted with a crank handle and a little drawer to collect the ground coffee.

Peugeot’s latest technology in salt and pepper grinding mechanisms is the u’Select. The u’Select pepper grinder has 6 different setting and the salt grinder has 3 different settings. These salt and pepper mills are precise and easy to use.

Not only does Peugeot offer the highest quality grinding mechanisms, they are also classy and beautifully crafted. You can choose from classic wood, lacquered wood, electric, stainless steel, transparent acrylic, or a combination of these materials together. Any of these mills will complement your dinning room and spice your food to perfection.
